My beloved husband has broken his ankle. He is in a cast. We leave for the sunny south in 2 weeks, us & the cast....so much for frolicking together in the ocean, or dancing the night away....ah well, at least it will be hot and sunny, I hope....and we're so thankful for our kids who come and take care of our place while we're away.
I have canned 28 quarts of Tomato Sauce, from the Tomato juice/pulp we frozen last fall.
I am crocheting one of these adorable tote bags. I found the pattern here
I am baking bread every other day, using my Cuisinart 14 cup food processor which does a fantastic job of kneading enough dough for 2 loaves at a time. So much nicer tasting than store bought. I'd gotten out of the habit, but I'm fully into it again and love it.
I have made a commitment to lose 25 lbs. in 2012....do I go it alone, or join Weight Watchers online?
I read my traditional Christmas novels, especially the Miss Read's...and have started this one, it seems ok, but I'm not far into it yet, so it may get good...or not....
Monday is a freezer cooking day. The girls and grands will be over and we will make 4 each of Lasagna, Shepherd's Pie, Butter Chicken and Chili. Fill up the family freezers and have a fun day of working together.
Our home is fairly clean and organized after the busyness of the holidays. I have a few areas I want to re-organize and purge, but we're in pretty good shape to kick off the new year.
The big hit this year on TV at our house is Downton Abbey. We are loving it. We watched the first season last year, and this season seems every bit as good.
I'm so pleased to finally have posted a "catch up" blog, hopefully the next one won't take so long.
Have a blessed week ahead,
Niki

A Happy New Year to you and your family!
I love how you and your daughters get together and cook & can...what a blessing you are to each other!
I just started watching Downtown Abbey yesterday online...so far I like it too!
Hope your hubby is healing soon and that you have a lovely trip!
Blessings!

Oh, the poor man, but am glad you can still go on your trip. Breaking an ankle is a tough way of getting out of painting. :<)
You do so much - what an inspiration you are. Really. My life is like taking a nap compared to your activities!
Lovely! That you're heading south and not that your beloved broke his ankle. That was definitely not good. Some guys will go to any length to avoid painting. ;>
Love the cooking day that you gals get together and make enough meals to each have four. What a good plan. Do you do that on a weekly basis.
Love that tote! I'll be following that link. I used my little crocheted purse today, but it was not up to my standards so it'll be holding extra spools of thread or something.
Sweet sweaters, too. Now that's talent above and beyond!
That bag is going to be cute!
Sorry to hear about your husbands ankle. Perhaps you'll get handicap privileges and not have to walk so much. :)
Hope you have a nice vacation.
So sorry to hear about the ankle. Hope it heals quickly and well. Now if he was the one that did the knitting and crocheting, he'd be set to make great progress!
Back in the dark ages, I broke my foot three days before our wedding, and had to hobble down the aisle in a cast and with crutches.
So sorry to hear about your hubby's broken ankle - hope he heals very quickly. And so glad you can still go on your trip!
I'm doing WW too - highly recommend it. it's helping! I do the meetings plus online.
I'm loving Downton Abbey too. Just wish it wasn't on so late here.
So glad to hear your newsy update!
I am sorry to hear about your husband's ankle. Enjoy your trip.
has he got a walking cast on? I did when I broke my ankle and it wasn't the best thing to have.
You sound very busy, but productive. I am waiting for Downton Abbey to come back on as I missed it.
Enjoy your vacation,
Gill
I love the idea of having a freezer cooking day with your daughters! What a fun way to spend time together and accomplish something!

Sorry to hear about your hubby's ankle. I hope he heals quickly. I really like your new header photo, and enjoyed so much reading about your winter activities. Have a wonderful trip, cast and all.
I'm so sorry for your poor husband. What a shame!
28 quarts? Wow! You've really been busy!
Good luck on losing your weight. I know you can do it!!!
Thanks for stopping by at my blog! I posted the links to the patterns under your comments. I love the tote bag, I think I am going to try it out.
